answers to IMPORTANT questions
how would you describe your style?
My style is really driven by two things- landscape and nostalgia. It is so important to me that when you look back on the images that we created together that you can FEEL the impact of the promises you’ve made to each other and how sacred that is.
I love documenting engagement shoots where we do something you love- fly fishing, drinking whiskey around a campfire, rock climbing, etc. My hope is that you can look back on your engagement and wedding photographs and remember how special this time in your life was, and how special it was to share those moments in the most beautiful places on earth.what’s important for you as a wedding photographer?
I am a firm believer that while the grand and epic adventure shots are really cool, the most meaningful photographs are the ones between you and your loved ones. Those quiet moments before you head to your ceremony, holding your lover’s hands, etc. I think allowing plenty of time to soak in each part of your wedding day lends itself to these kinds of moments and photographs!
do you travel?
A big resounding, yes! I’ve been traveling my whole life, for work and fun. There are a few areas I’m consistently in: Moab, Zion, Santa Fe, Escalante, to name a few. If it’s dusty and has cactus, I’ll probably be there.
I do travel outside of these areas as well and have traveled from Canada to Europe to South America, the list goes on. Reach out if you have somewhere specific in mind or need a buddy to brainstorm a beautiful place to get married.we’re awkward as heck. help!
Ok, so this isn’t a question so much as a common concern nearly every couple voices to me when they first reach out. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I have good news, you don’t have to worry about what to do with your hands! I will guide you through every step of the way from planning a day that allows you plenty of time to do things you enjoy doing (eating cake, horseback riding, canyoneering) so that we get plenty of natural and candid photos.
When it’s time for posed portraits, I will tell you exactly what to do, so you feel totally at ease with your person. And honestly, what’s more fun than hanging out with your human, making out and getting beautiful photos?will you drink whiskey with us?
Hell yes. After all of your photos are taken, I love to sit down and actually enjoy a minute with you two. Most of my engagement shoots and elopements end with a campfire and some stargazing. Bonus points if it’s High West- I’m happy to bring along a bottle of Campfire!
CAN WE BRING OUR PUPS?
YES. Dogs are my favorite thing in the world, I’m one of those intense people with an Instagram just for their doggos.
(Hello @releasethebassethounds) Depending on logistics, we can have them there the whole day/part of the day, whatever you’d like. And yes, Roland and Jane can come along if you want.
