Janet & Steve Elope in Moab, Utah
Damn, this was a good day. There are a hundred reasons why elopements have my heart, and every single one was present this day. Everything was filled with love and intention, from going to a spot at Courthouse Wash in Arches so they could say they had gone to the courthouse on their wedding day, to having champagne and dancing their hearts out under the cover of junipers. Here’s a little recap on how these two spent their elopement day in Moab.
Arches National Park
Steve first saw his bride under a small (well small is relative, in the land of giant rock formations) arch in Arches National Park. They exchanged gifts, cards and happy hugs. The quiet of the day- right before a couple sees each other always gets me. There is something in the air, things feel heavy and big and scary and exciting and then as soon as they see each other all of that just melts away. It is special to witness each and every time.
Dead Horse Point State Park
This day was all about exploring and seeing all of the amazing views that Moab has to offer. Janet and Steve had a good idea of the places they wanted to see on their wedding day when they reached out, so we planned their day and timeline around being able to see as much as possible, while still allowing time to sit and enjoy the places we were at. Dead Horse is always beautiful, but with all of the spring rains, the desert was greener than I’d ever seen it. Looking into the horseshoe from the viewpoint, the whole plateau was vibrant and covered in the prettiest green grass, something I’ve never seen in all of the year I’ve been coming to this place.
Canyonlands National Park
This spot never ceases to amaze me. I’ve spent many sunsets and sunrises here, and there is always something visually unique. All day we had been outrunning giant rain clouds, and this was when the weather finally caught up to us. Not to be deterred, we found a hillside to take cover under while they had their first dance. These sweet people finished off their wedding day under the dying light of the sun, dancing and drinking champagne like no one was watching. I’ll never, ever forget the joy that hung in the air.
